Out on DVD! Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

My girls like to watch movies. A lot.

Although I do my best to limit "screen time" - there's nothing quite like sitting down together for family movie nights. Have a 5 and 2 year old, the movie is more than likely going to be animated.

We were lucky enough to snag an advance copy of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel for our most recent movie night. I have to admit, I never saw the first one so I can't compare this one to that one but I do however remember watching the Chipmunks on Saturday mornings when I was a little girl. - Needless to say I was excited to have a little trip down memory lane.

As far as kids movies go, it was really cute. My girls LOVED it, which I'm not surprised at all. Ever since movie night, they've asked me to pop it in every day. Before I wrote this review, I asked my 5 year old what her favorite part was - her response: "All the singing and dancing". She also really likes The Chipettes...Eleanor, Jeanette and Brittany, and I'll admit, they are pretty much adorable.

The Synopses for the movie (with no spoilers) is basically a concert mishap lands Dave (the Chipmunks dad) in the hospital. The Chipmunks take a break from their superstardom and enroll in school to fit in with kids their age. Then the Chipmunks enter a competition in order to save the schools music department. They meet the Chipettes - the competition heats up, and.... you will have to watch the rest of the movie to find out how it ends! (sorry)

The music in the movie is pretty fun, assuming you can stand listening to it in falsetto voices! FYI - There is a bit of mild rude humor, so use your best parental judgment before your kids see it.

Micralite Toro Stroller with Rider Attachment

A few months ago we featured the Micralite Toro Stroller with the All Terrain Kit. You can read the full review here. Recently Micralite introduced a new accessory for the Toro stroller called the Rider. The Rider is a boogie board attachment for your older child to stand on, and if you ask me, its PURE GENIUS! The Toro Rider also comes with Multi-Position handles that extend out so you're not reaching over your older child to be able to push the stroller.

This entire stroller and accessories is by far the easiest and most convenient option for my family! I have an infant that needs to ride in the stroller, and a toddler that likes the freedom of walking on his own, but riding when he wants. He thinks riding on the back is the coolest thing ever! Life Verse Design - Beautiful Art!

The woman who creates these beautiful pieces of art is a fun mom of 3! Her kids are actually spread apart very similar to my own. With kids 6.5, 4.5 and 2.5 this artist discovered with a simple piece of scripture she had written on a note card... that she could take those "plain note cards" and make them beautiful!

When her youngest was just 6 weeks old she did her 1st craft show and almost sold out! She is now on Etsy and Demdaco discovered her work. She is now being licensed by them internationally.

I could go on and on about her work.. but it really does speak for itself.

Her creations are just stunning!!!
As a professional photographer myself I appreciate photography and the art behind it... but to take photography and turn it into even more is a beautiful talent. It takes a natural gift and this ladies got it!

Free Entertainment with Learning;)

In these cold winter months, we are always looking for ways to keep the kids entertained and busy. What's even better is keeping them busy with activities that encourage their learning:)

I have been a fan of STARFALL for years... first working with Anna over 3 years ago on learning her letters. I now sit with Lydia and Christopher working on letters and simple reading activities and watching Anna read some of the stories!! I love that this site provides the kids with different levels of learning as well as activities and opportunities to learn that are fun and enjoyable to them:)

We are currently working on Ancient Greek history and they can enjoy the stories even more with Starfall Greek Myths... yes, my kids watch/read the Trojan Horse story over and over during their computer time!! And Lydia has loved the classical music page and growing flowers for Spring:)

Over a year ago I reviewed a belt off ETSY. This belt attracted me because my son (who at the time was under 2) was potty trained... yet because of his age his waist was SO TINY I could not keep pants on him. Most "typical" belts I found were to bulky or big for him at this point.

Best Baby Tub Ever!

As new parents, my husband Jake and I feel like we're doing an pretty okay job. He's happy and healthy, shows it, and we're stopped CONSTANTLY about what a beautiful, healthy boy he is! The first few days at home however, we were these people I hardly recognize today. I for one was a nervous wreck, and aside from being sleep deprived (duh), I was just worried about everything we were doing, weren't doing, should be doing....I'm sure many of you new moms can relate!

Jake wasn't at home the first night Tyler had his first bath. He was back to work already and Tyler had a MASSIVE pooo blowout and then threw up on himself. I know...it was good times and you are sorry you missed it. BUT...one thing I was slightly less nervous about, was the bath. We were given a nice tub for one of my baby showers, but we were shopping at Babies R Us one day and saw a bathtub that we really liked. Made by 4Moms, The Cleanwater Infant Bathtub is awesome. More than awesome I think. Before we found this tub, I was apprehensive about Tyler's bath..."What's the right temperature?", "How will I know if it's too hot?" Those questions kept running through my mind and even though some of you may say, "you just figure these things out", I couldn't get the stories out of my head about third degree burns and babies. So when we bought this tub, I felt like we were taking good steps to keep Tyler safer.

I also feel like we made a fabulous decision! Tyler LOVES his tub, and so do I! The Built in digital thermometer tells you when the water is too cold, too hot, or just right.

According to the 4Moms website, the bathtub is suitable for babies aged from birth to six months, or until your child begins sitting up. Maximum weight is 25 pounds. The tub fits single and double basin sinks and is light! The thermometer does require 3 double A Batteries. I feel good about this product, and the company who makes it. 4Moms is a company founded by 2 men, with 4 moms are a testing group. This tub won the National Parenting Seal of Approval, the Iparenting Media Award, and the Mom's Best Awards.

Seven Smooches

Seven Smooches just might be the beginning of what I'll be laying on my son while he wears the cutest baby hat and booties set I've ever seen.

When I was introduced to Seven Smooches, I knew this was a company after my own heart. Adorable hat & mitten sets, the cutest little handmade booties you ever did see, and crazy cute kimonos that are totally swoon-worthy are just a few of my favorite pieces.

I love Seven Smooches gear for so many reasons but probably the biggest draw is that they are created out from recycled and discarded wool sweaters. Repourposing something old and turning it into a beautiful, handmade item to be treasured? What a Score!

Because each piece is lovingly handmade and one of a kind, they might run a tiny bit on the pricey side for some budgets (hats & mitten sets $45, button boots $48). But hello! Splurging on new babies is so fun! The good news? You get what you pay for.

I envision myself giving these items as gifts to be treasured and handed down from generation to generation. Most products are machine washable, making them both beautiful and still practical for every day wear.

Healthy Choice - All Natural Entrees

I had a baby 3 months ago. I'll admit it - I'm trying to loose a few pesky pounds that seem to be lingering around my midsection. I'll also admit something else - I love my food. I take mealtime very serious. I am not one of those people that can eat tasteless food day after day just to loose the weight. I love me a good meal.

Healthy Choice recently introduced 11 new entrées to its Café Steamers, All Natural Entrées, and Select Entrées product lines. These new meals are not boring, run of the mill, or nasty tasting diet food. I have tried them, and I think they are pretty great.

I tried two of the All Natural Entrees - the Roasted Red Pepper Marinara and the Tortellini Primavera Parmesan (suggested retail, around $2ish). I have to admit - I enjoyed them. What I enjoyed even more was that I knew I was eating something healthy. These meals are full of protein, fiber, antioxidants and whole grains, all key parts when trying to watch the weight.

Probably the best part of the meal had to be the fact that these meals are ready to go within 4 minutes. While I'm taking care of 3 kids daily, having something quick and tasty is worth a million bucks when I'm hungry.

As soon as my daughter got to the age that I had to start putting her into the shopping cart when we went grocery shopping, I soon realized that I would be putting her right into the middle of the germ festival.
