Tomo and Edie - for the hair

>> Tuesday, June 24, 2008

a
I have found the perfect hair accessory that couples both reclaimed items with simple, subtle, classic style. Tomo & Edie air accessories are made from vintage Japanese silk kimono. After the kimono has reached a point where it can no longer be worn, Tomo & Edie take it apart and give it new life! My favorite that I've been wearing out around town has been the 3 ume barrette {$16.00).

When a kimono is created, it can take weeks to embroider, dye and sew. Kimonos can cost thousands of dollars and are passed down from generation to generation.

Somthing really special about Tomo & Edie hair accessories is that since every Kimono is unique, every accessory that Tomo & Edie creates is one of a kind. I have to imagine if every clip, barrette and ponytail could talk, their stories would be amazing.

As well as being eco-chic, Tomo & Edie give 10% of their profits to UNICEF. If you are looking to support an environmentally conscious company that is giving back daily to our kids, I recommend Tomo & Edie.

Buy it! Tomo and Edie hair accessories (and other items such as the cutes baby kimonos you ever did see) can be purchased online.

Win it! Tomo and Edie would love to give one lucky Simple reader 2 hair accessories of their choice. To be entered in the contest, just leave us a comment letting me know that you would like to be entered.

Contest will run through July 1, 2008. Winner will be selected at random. Good Luck!

*winner will also submitted through Prizey Winner Fetch!
